Houston Express Soccer Club runs two primary soccer programs. The Express Rec program is our recreational soccer program for U4-U13 (birth year 2013-2004) boys and girls. The Houston Express program includes the HESC Jr. Academy (U8-U10; birth years 2011-2009) and the HESC competitive (U11-U19; birth years 2008-1998) soccer programs. For an overview of our programs, please click here.

What is my child’s age group?
Please check the age group chart to find your child’s age group.

Please register your cell phone for instant text message updates on field closures through our RainedOut service.
Once I register my cell phone for field status alters, can I opt out?
Yes. Just reply “STOP” when you receive a RainedOut text message.
Where does Express Rec play and practice?
Express Rec players train and play games on fields near the West University area, including West U Elementary, West U Rec Center, Southside Place, The Rice School, St. Thomas Episcopal, Pin Oak Middle School, Pershing Middle School, Feld Park and St. Catherine’s Montessori School. Please see the field information for more details.
Can we use HESC fields to hold extra training sessions and scrimmages?

Can we bring our pets to the fields?
No. Pets are prohibited at HESC fields.
We left something at the fields. Is there a lost and found?
HESC does not maintain a lost and found. Please properly mark all backpacks, water jugs, clothing, etc., with your child’s name and a contact number.
What forms of payment are accepted at registration?
We accept American Express, Visa, MasterCard and Discover, as well as e-checks through our website. Physical checks and money orders may be mailed to the club at Houston Express Soccer club, 2617-C W. Holcombe Blvd. #121, Houston, TX 77025
My child wants to be on the same team as a friend. Can I make a special request?
Each Express Rec team has one volunteer Team Manager and one Assistant Team Manager. Children of Team Managers and Assistant Team Managers will be assigned to their parents’ teams. All other players on Express Rec rosters are assigned by the Director of Recreational Player Development.
How can I sponsor a team or donate to the financial aid fund?
For information regarding our sponsorship opportunities, please click here.
I am interested in being a major sponsorship partner with Houston Express Soccer Club? Whom do I contact?
Please contact Adrian Crespo, President of Houston Express Soccer Club (email@example.com).
Once I register online, what happens next?
Upon completing registration, Express Rec parents will receive an automatically generated email confirming registration in the Express Rec program. Soon thereafter, Express Rec parents will receive an email from an Express Rec Commissioner containing information regarding the upcoming season, the team formations process and volunteering as a Team Manager or Assistant Team Manager. Please refer to the Express Recreational Calendar for season specific key dates.
Can I build my own Rec team or bring my team over from another club?
No. Other than children of Team Managers and Assistant Team Managers, all Express Rec players are placed onto rosters by the HESC coaching staff.
How are teams formed?
The HESC coaching staff assigns players to teams based on player evaluations and practice day/time requests.
Why was my child assigned to a team without a parent team manager?
It takes a long time to recruit enough parent managers for each team and sometimes we still do not have enough volunteers at the time we announce rosters. More information about being a volunteer team manager can be found HERE.
My child can only practice certain days and certain times – can this be accommodated?
Possibly. However, we cannot guarantee that practice days/time requests can be fulfilled. The best way to ensure that your practice day/time request is met is to volunteer as an Express Rec Team Manager.
When and how will we be notified of our team placement and practice time/location location each season?
We target to notify parents by email of Express Rec player placement by Labor Day Weekend for the Fall season and during the last week of January for the Spring season. More specific information on dates and schedules are updated for each season on the Express Recreational Calendar or Express Recreational Schedules page.
Do teams stay together each season?
No. We believe players should be exposed to new teammates and Team Managers each year.
What is my best chance at being placed with a friend in Rec?
The only way to ensure this is to volunteer as a Team Manager and for the parent of your child’s friend to volunteer as the same team’s Assistant Team Manager.
Do you have to be a resident of West University to play in Express Rec?
No. Express Rec is a program within Houston Express Soccer Club. There are no residency requirements for any of our programs.
How old does my child have to be to start playing?
The Express Recreational program begins at U4, please check the age group chart to verify eligibility.
What is the time commitment to Express Rec?
The Fall season runs from late August until late November, and the Spring season runs from Early February until mid-May. U5-U13 teams practice twice per week and play one game per week in the Fall; U5 through U13 teams practice once per week and play one game per week in the Spring. U4 players participate in camp-style sessions (no games).
Do you keep scores?
Standings or scores are not kept for micro soccer games (up to U8). Scores and standings are sometimes recorded for U9-U13.
I believe my child is an advanced soccer player for his/her age. Can he/she play-up?
As a general rule, Express Rec players do not play up or play down for developmental and social reasons. Exceptions to this general rule are at the sole discretion of the HESC coaching staff. For advanced players, the Express Futures program is available from U7-U10 and the Houston Express Academy program is available beginning at U8.
Should my child move to the Houston Express Academy program?
The Houston Express Academy program is open to players beginning at U8. Your child is an ideal candidate to move into the program if he/she is a dominant player, is recommended to do so by a trainer, shows sufficient maturity to benefit from higher level training OR simply has an insatiable appetite for soccer.
Can recreational teams enter tournaments?
Only with prior approval from the Houston Express Soccer Club Executive Director or Technical Director.
Please contact the Express Rec Registrar (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information.
