Houston Express Soccer Club (HESC), a private 501(c)(3) non-profit youth sports club, has served the Houston youth soccer community for over 30 years. With our professional coaching staff, fully developed curriculum, and our own South Campus sports complex, HESC offers comprehensive programs for boys and girls ages 3-18, from beginners and recreational players through the highest competitive levels of youth soccer.
HESC made a transformational decision 7 years ago when the club decided to hire professional coaches to implement a training curriculum to provide the best environment for our players to succeed. When Mark Gibbs, Director of Coaching, joined HESC in 2007, our club had 40 teams. Since this key addition, HESC has surged to 85 teams with 2,300 players and has continued to expand its professional coaching staff. During this time, our coaching staff has not only developed and retained talent, but has been adept at attracting new players to the club. Our tremendous growth is a tribute to our love of the game and our belief and understanding that players mature at different times.
HESC strives to instill a love for the game in our players and to cultivate that passion as each child matures and progresses through the program. We take great pride in developing our players as athletes, students, and responsible young men and women. Our players form life-long friendships with their teammates, maintain healthy lifestyles, and acquire leadership, teamwork, and sportsmanship skills that ultimately prepare them for life beyond soccer.
HESC currently has over 2,300 registered players who come from over sixty zip codes in the Houston metro area with the majority of our athletes residing “inside the loop.” We welcome you to make HESC your soccer home.
Houston Express Soccer Club has two programs open to boys and girls:
Express Recreational is an in-house recreational program for players ages 3 to 12. It accepts players of all skill levels and experience. The recreational program is an in-house league. It also serves as a feeder to the more competitive Houston Express program. Starting at U8, players can choose to remain in the recreational program or move into the Houston Express program.
Houston Express is a competitive program for players ages 7 to 18. Younger players in Express are part of the U8-10 Express Developmental Academy. This program offers an intensified training curriculum and a more competitive play than offered in our recreational program. Express Academy teams play opposing teams outside of the club. This part of the program serves as a great introduction and preparation for competitive soccer. Houston Express teams are trained by licensed professional coaching staff and compete in various area and regional leagues, such as National Premier League, State Classic League (SCL), Eastern District Division One Association (EDDOA) Division 1 and Super 2, and Houston Youth Soccer Association (HYSA).
HESC has created an outstanding curriculum for both programs that ensures the best possible player and team development no matter what the skill level or how competitive the player chooses to be. We are committed to a consistent style of play across all age groups and genders. At early ages, we focus on teaching and developing players individual skills and introduce them to organized team concepts. We encourage them to work with their teammates and express their individual creativity within the team environment. Our coaching staff teaches our goalkeepers to roll the ball out quickly to defenders so they learn at an early age how to play out of the back. They also urge players to keep possession of the ball when they are under pressure no matter where they are on the field. We will not compromise a player’s development for easy wins via long balls and favoring the strength of one particular player on a team. We develop all players.
A challenge facing many soccer clubs in non-suburban locales is access to quality fields. In many cases, green space has been sold to make way for residential and commercial development. This has occurred at a time when the numbers of children participating in youth sports is at an all-time high. HESC has addressed the field space issue with our ownership-partnership in the South Campus sports complex. These fields ensure that the club will continue to be a vibrant part of the youth soccer landscape and overall community.
Our main club-owned facility, South Campus, is located near the corner of Stella Link and Loop 610, just a stone’s throw from Reliant Stadium. South Campus is the largest private youth sports complex in Texas, with 55 acres of green space owned collaboratively by five youth sports leagues. South Campus has 4 full size soccer fields and 3 futsal courts. All fields are fully lighted.
HESC recently completed its “McGovern Campus” near the corner of Stella Link and Bellaire Blvd. This campus has two soccer fields. The main field is a full-size “championship” 11 v 11 field with restricted egress, lighting, scoreboard, concessions, bathrooms, locker rooms, and seating for 1,000 spectators. The main field is often divided into two 8v8 fields. The 2nd field is a very large 8v8 field that is normally used for U11 and U12 8v8 games.
In addition to our own fields, the club utilizes numerous nearby public and private fields: Feld Park, St. Catherine’s Montessori, The Rice School, Pin Oak Middle School, Southside Place Park, Pershing Middle School, West U Elementary, and the West U Rec Center.

Houston Express Soccer Club’s principal mission is the promotion of youth soccer. We strive to instill a love for the game and to foster an environment that allows each player to participate according to his or her interest and ability.
HESC looks to parents and players to help create the structured, positive, and fun environment in which our children can learn responsibility, teamwork, discipline and other life skills.
Yes, club soccer involvement requires a commitment of both spirit and time but we also expect our players to pursue excellent academics in addition to athletics. We believe that both players and parents must display good character and appropriate behavior both on and off the field.
HESC cares about our families, players, coaching staff, supporters and community, not just about how many titles we accumulate. Together, we can create a fun, safe, and enriching environment where our children will thrive and make life-long friends.
